Smart Segmentation is an approach to customer segmentation that uses natural language processing to allow non-technical users to create complex customer segments by describing them in plain English. Instead of building segments through multi-step filter interfaces, operators can type queries like "customers who purchased more than 3 times in the last 90 days but haven't opened an email in 30 days."

Behind the natural language interface, the system translates queries into structured filters combining behavioral data (purchase history, browsing, email engagement), transactional data (order value, frequency, recency), subscription data (plan type, tenure, churn risk), and product affinity data. Segments update in real-time as new data flows in, ensuring they always reflect the current customer state.

The power of smart segmentation extends beyond creation. Each segment includes real-time KPIs—average LTV, churn rate, AOV, retention rate—enabling operators to compare segment health at a glance. Segments can be exported to email platforms like Klaviyo for targeted campaigns or to advertising platforms like Meta for custom audience creation, closing the loop between insight and action.
